A Lifestyle For Better Beauty

By Linda Farington Platinum Quality Author

When you are looking for better beauty you want to make sure you are turning your good habits into a lifestyle. It is how you live that has the best impact on your beauty. Beauty is not just skin deep; it is everything about us including our mental and spiritual selves as well. The better we live in general, the better we feel. Feeling good and living a happy life is the key to the beauty within. When we adopt better habits and get rid of those that are negative, we set our bodies up for a much better way to live. When it comes to living a lifestyle that enhances your beauty, inside and out, there are three things to look at first. These important ideas are happiness, over all well being, and eating properly. Once you have all these in proper working order you will find that your appearance will improve and stay that way.

Happiness And Looking Good

Better beauty begins inside of each of us. How we feel about our life and self has a large impact on what comes out on the surface. The happier you are with your life the better you will look. Our physical appearance is very much linked to the emotional well being of each of us. When we are not satisfied with our situation, we do not take care of our self, as we should. Many times you will not follow good hygiene practices or eat as well as you should. You can not care what you look like at all or whether you even get out of bed. The key to looking good is to care about you and what you want. When you achieve happiness you will want to present yourself well to others. You will take pride in your appearance, and want it to match the emotional part of yourself.

Feeling Great And Your Appearance

Physically feeling great has a huge benefit to better beauty. When your body feels healthy, it looks healthy. Appearance can be affected by what we do to our body physically. There are many physical attributes that can either play a positive or negative role in how good you look. Exercise has many benefits to over all beauty. It keeps us lean and trim, helps to increase blood flow to all part of the body, and keeps the parts of the body in good working condition. These factors allow the body to be more efficient and help make the outward appearance as good as the inside. The more you do to make yourself feel physically better, the better you will look over all.

Eating Right And Your Body

The most important aspect of better beauty is eating habits. When you eat well, your body can process nutrients better. The easier it is for the body to respond to how food is processed and used, the better you feel. Diet is one of the easiest ways to control how well we look. Proper diet allows us to control whether we will be healthy and well balanced or not.

Beauty From The Inside Out

By Edward Gorman

Anything we take into our bodies can affect how we age. Eating, breathing and absorption through the skin. Breathing and absorbing is a bit out of our control most of the time. Eating can be difficult to control as well since food producers can add some questionable materials to our food. The better we can take control of these sources, the healthier we will be. Still, it's an uphill battle.

The skin is an organ on the outside of the body. It takes an onslaught of torture everyday, sunlight to chemicals on the outside, and various internal toxins. Underneath is a fatty layer that thins as we age. Like a carpet that the padding underneath is flattened out, the skin will be loose and wrinkly. Fatty cells also tend to hold toxins which reach the skin. On the outside is a layer of dead skin cells which provides very limited protections against the environment.

Good standard maintenance is to keep clean - inside & out. Use a filter or be a filter. Especially with tap water. The biggest pollutant is chlorine used to make the water drinkable. Even showering, the skin absorbs the chemicals. For those of us that like warm/hot water showers, chlorine becomes airborne and we breathe it in. The lungs make it available to the blood stream. There are numerous other items in the water like bacteria and other chemicals/elements, depending on the areas you live. Drinking a healthy amount of water will help keep the lymphatic system running smoothly to wash toxins under the skin away while keeping clean will keep the outside well.

The lymphatic system works like a sewage system. A good test to feel your lymphatic system is to take a deep inhale for 4 seconds, hold for a count of 8, then exhale slowly for a count of 16. You'll feel a slight "rush" as you exhale. Breathing and movement help it to flow. The sewage system ends in the bowels and is eliminated when you use the toilet. A healthy lymphatic system is the 1st line defense for healthy skin. For best performance, healthy amounts of water and a healthy diet. The cleaner the colon, the best emptying of the lymph fluids.

Along with a clean colon for elimination, it leads to better getting better nutrition. There is a profound relationship to health and how well your body absorbs nutrition. Taking all the supplements in the world doesn't help if you live on a diet of fluffy yellow cakes filled with artificial cream. The cleaner the intestines, the better the food & nutrients get into the blood. Once the body gets the nutrients, it builds more tissue. Some diseases and symptoms are caused by inadequate nutrients and will disappear after resuming a healthy diet. Skin is noticeable by everyone.

Blood circulation is key to having great skin. Light/moderate aerobic exercise will get blood flowing allowing skin the get oxygen & nutrients. Keeping cholesterol down, avoiding sugars and keeping proper fluids keeps blood flowing. Cholesterol and sugar are sticky and cause platelets to stick together. Low fluids makes blood like mud.

Vitamins key to healthy skin include antioxidants. Foods high in flavinoids are best. Oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPCs) are the "do all" antioxidants with numerous benefits. OPCs are found in grapeseed extract, redwine extract (skin and pulp when grapes are crushed in the first step of wine making), and white pine bark extract. They can also be found in the red skins of whole peanuts. Choke cherries have the greatest concentration. OPCs in the blood stream actually clean up by removing not only free radicals, but other impurities such as cholesterols and pollutants. UV damage is decreased within the skin. OPCs inhibit the bodies enzymes from breaking down collagen, and reduce the production of histimine. OPCs can be consumed by food naturally or in a variety of supplements ranging from pills to high availability isotonic forms. Some skin care products can also contain OPCs for topical application.

A key element in OPCs is Pycnogenol, found mostly in white pine bark extract. It's a natural anti inflammatory helping to reduce irritations caused be external causes. Improve circulation by strengthening capillary walls and blood vessels.

Youthful skin can be yours.

The Secret To Creating Beauty From The Inside Out

By Constance Weygandt

Women wanting to be beautiful is as old as
civilization. At different times in history, women have ingested arsenic to improve their complexions, used warm urine from young boys to remove their freckles and took belladonna to produce dreamy eyes. The beauty business is a $160 billion, a year, global industry. The cosmetic surgery business is a $20 billion business. These industries play on the fear of looking ugly as much as the need to look beautiful and for good reason. Attractive people are perceived to be more intelligent, more successful and better in bed. Although the beauty industry has traditionally marketed to women, the male market is increasing.

Part of the challenge which the beauty industry faces is truth in advertising. Increasingly, consumers have tested products which make grandiose claims, only to be disappointed. The current trend is on well being as well as outer beauty. A healthy individual, in good physical shape, is perceived to be an attractive individual. Here are four factors which can help you to achieve beauty from the inside out.

Water. Water is an essential component of the human body. When we fail to replace lost water we can enter a state of dehydration. If you have ever been thirsty, you have experienced the beginnings of dehydration. A rule of thumb is: check your urine. If your urine is clear to light colored you are adequately hydrated. A lack of water in your system can lead to overeating. Sometimes, when we feel that we are hungry we are actually thirsty. When you feel hunger, have a glass or two of water and wait 15 minutes. If you are still hungry, eat something. I keep a 32 ounce bottle of water with me at all times and sip from it throughout the day. I usually finish two bottles a day.

Oxygen. According to Dr. Spencer Way in the Journal of American Association of Physicians, “ Insufficient oxygen means insufficient biological energy that can result in anything from mild fatigue to life threatening disease.” Sufficient oxygen is necessary for a healthy life. We can exist for up to 40 days without food, 4 days without water but no more than 3 minutes without oxygen. Due to pollution and the thinning ozone layer, oxygen levels in our air are believed to be around 21%. Adequate oxygen levels are very important in that hostile organisms cannot live in an oxygen rich environment.

Colostrum and Leptin. Colostrum is a natural food, rich in anti aging and immune factors. Leptin is a small hormone-like protein primarily produced by fat cells. Small fat cells produce more leptin than large fat cells. Leptin is important because it sends out a signal to suppress appetite. Some of the benefits of the colostrum/leptin combination are: inch loss, building of lean muscle, high energy levels, tightening and toning of the skin, better sleep and much more. I believe this to be an essential combination in achieving beauty from the inside out.

Sleep. Adequate sleep is important on more than one level. It is the number one defense against stress. Cortisol, a hormone, is released during stressful events and can, over time, lead to a risk of infection and disease. Sleep is also important in minimizing weight gain. Many Americans that are sleep deprived are also overweight. The amount of sleep suggested for the average person is 8-10 hours. When Sophia Loren, a popular actress and reigning beauty in the sixties and seventies, was asked how she still looked so beautiful at an older age, her answer was that she naps every day.

As a final note: If you are taking vitamin supplements, your urine will be darker for several hours after taking them. There are many companies that advertise products that profess to raise oxygen levels in your system. As always, use due diligence in your choice of products. If you try and follow this guide to beauty, you should see results in the form of looking and feeling younger and healthier.

Beauty is an Inside Job

By Laura F Fenamore

One of the worst outcomes of poor body image is that it often becomes systemic - taking all of one's self esteem and day-to-day joy-of-life with it.

If only we could say, my big butt is not my best feature, and love the rest of ourselves completely. My big butt is not who I am; for many of us, we will allow thoughts and feelings about a body part to run our lives.

Our outside body starts to kill our inside spirit.

We must come to the conclusion that the popular idea, sold by millions of weight-loss experts and fads, that we will lose weight and then love ourselves simply isn't working, is it?

Usually you get one of the following results:

a) You can't put aside the self loathing and stop continue to overeat.

b) You can't, "love the new skin you're in," and even though you might lose a few pounds, you gain it back immediately.

c) The self loathing didn't fade with the pounds. You do lose weight, but you still don't really love yourself or believe you're beautiful and magnificent.

So here's the big What If.

What if you make weight loss an inside job?

Just try it on for size:

1) Remember, popularity is when other people like me. Happiness is when I LIKE ME. Say this to yourself out loud right now, I will like me today! Because (i.e., I am wise, I am smart, I am generous, etc.) ... _______________________, __________________, __________________.

2) You are what you eat. So don't eat crap. Stop hanging out with people who deplete your energy and your spirit. Just for today!

3) Enjoy a day of fun physical activity - whatever level you are at, and eat great foods today just because you can. Because the truth is that beauty is an inside job!

Beauty From the Inside

By Ng Bee See

'Beauty is only skin deep' is an old cliché, but there is no better way of saying that the skin reflects whatever is going on inside your body. You can cover skin with moisturizers and make-up, but without feeding it well and caring for it from the inside you can rarely be truly beautiful.

Skin protects and supports the delicate tissue and vital organs that lie just beneath the surface. Our skin breathes and excretes waste materials and provides a growing pad for hair. It is fed nutrients and oxygen by tiny blood vessels that in turn pick up their cargoes from the food we take in and the air we breathe.

Skin is made up of two layers: the outer epidermis and the inner dermis. Both are flexible and elastic to allow movement of the body without distorting the skin. The dermis is the thicker layer. It contains blood vessels that bring nourishment and a lymphatic system that drains waste. Here also are two types of stretchy fibre, known as collagen fibres that are made of protein and elastin. Collagen fibres give the skin the 'stretch-and-spring-back' quality that helps it to withstand bumps and knocks. Hairs begin their growth in the dermis, and nerve endings and hair follicles found here make the skin sensitive to touch and pain. Sweat glands in the dermis release moisture that helps to control the body's temperature. Sebum, a natural lubricant and moisturizer, is produced in the sebaceous glands in the dermis. It mixes with sweat and forms a thin film on the skin called the acid mantle. This lends protection against infection and bacteria.

Skin cells are formed in what is called the stratum germinativum (the layer where growth begins). This is the lowest layer of the epidermis. The cells are continually replaced from beneath, so a new cell is gradually pushed upwards towards the surface. As the cell moves upwards it begins to die, and by the time it reaches the surface, it has flattened and hardened to form the stratum corneum. This hard, dead, insensitive layer protects the living cells beneath. Eventually, the old cells flake away from the skin and are replaced. This process is called desquamation and takes an average of twenty-one to twenty-eight days. The younger the skin, the quicker this cycle of renewal will be.

Skin is a vital, functioning part of us, yet how often is 'a lifestyle for a healthy skin' mentioned? There are 'healthy heart', 'stress reducing' and 'cancer preventive' lifestyles by the score, but skin seems to lose out.

Skin reflects the state of our body and our mind. Feeling run down? Then look in the mirror. Your skin will not look its sparkling best either. Have you eaten too much fast food? Then watch those spots appear in the more oily parts of your face. Have you been on a crash diet, eating nothing but lettuce leaves for days? Perhaps the skin on your arms or legs has gone dry and flaky. Does stress attack you in the middle of the night? Watch for the dark rings under your eyes. The better things are inside, the more naturally beautiful you will look.

Make-up for the Natural Beauty Inside Every Man

By James A. Penn Platinum Quality Author

Seriously, has anyone ever considered the difference a little make-up can make to a man’s life and natural beauty? If not, why not? Ancient Egyptian men wore more make-up more than their female counterparts. Men participating in theatre had to wear as much make-up as women in order for their facial features to stand out from the back row. What about movie stars? Movie stars wear a little make-up to avoid imbalance in the complexion and to give a smooth look that makes women go crazy. A little extra color never goes amiss, either. What about today’s average man? Is it safe for him to wear make-up in a culture that portrays masculinity as rough and rugged? The answer to that question is totally up to each man himself.

What purpose could make-up have in the lives of every day men? Surely, men wake up to find that there are dark circles under the eyes and blemishes that stand out like beacons against otherwise smooth and unblemished skin. What about those days when the skin is ridiculously shiny or the lips are chapped? A little make-up can easily remedy these problems that sometimes interfere with a man’s natural handsomeness and thus to his confidence. For example, the use of concealer under the eyes or on blemishes can reduce the look of tiredness or just balance the skin if it’s absolutely important to look one’s best. A little lip gloss will provide sufficient moisture to smooth dried and cracked lips. Many lip glosses are absolutely colorless and without scent. Others are slightly tinted so as to get rid of that white peeled look as lips are restored to normal. A little foundation is a great way to reduce ridiculous amounts of shininess. And if there’s a constant difficulty of having lashes in the eyes (and it does happen), then a little clear mascara acts as a way to keep them just like how gel keeps the hair. Eater way, it’s important to decide whether or not these enhancers will help or harm the statement each man is trying to make.

What about the issue of masculinity? Isn’t it wrong to consider a man to be beautiful in the first place? No, certainly not. Beauty doesn’t have to always refer to women. Beauty is meant to explain the aesthetic pleasure of looking at or experiencing something. Usually, the idea of beauty is applied to things that seem soft to the eyes. The idea of soft beauty applies to many men; not all men are rugged. Some are very dainty. This isn’t a problem. Most of social gentlemen and businessmen are. Besides, the definition of masculinity is a personal thing. We all do gender. Therefore, gender flexibly fits to each personality and make-up is a great way to enhance that natural beauty that expresses it.
