Body Image - I Promise to Love, Honor and Respect My Body As She is Today

Caroline

Caroline stood naked in front of the full-length mirror in her bathroom every morning. She let out a big, sad sigh. "I am so fat and ugly, I need to lose weight, it's hopeless, I'm hopeless."

The problem

Most of the women I talk to are unhappy about their looks. They are quick to list their flaws. Rarely do I hear: "I am totally ok with my body, I love my hair, I am the perfect size, I have great thighs, I am pretty, I love the way I look in jeans."

The gap

The extent to which you feel disconnected from your innate beauty is the extent of work you need to do.

A harsh question

Would you tell a 10 year old girl that she is fat, not pretty, too skinny, too this, too that? No, of course you wouldn't.

That little girl is inside you. When you say those things to yourself, you are saying them to her. She needs to hear that she is beautiful, that she is loveable and perfect just as she is.

The Law

The Law of Attraction simply states that you get what you focus on whether you want it or not.

When you focus on what you don't like about yourself, you continue to see more negatives in your reflection. You continue to find reasons to criticize yourself.

This practice affects your energy and your personal vibration and keeps you stuck in negativity.

Outside beauty is an inside job

Make a decision to think well of yourself and how you look and you will begin to feel good about yourself.

When you focus on what you do like about yourself, you continue to see more positives in your reflection. You continue to find reasons to approve of yourself.

The truth

  • You are unique and unrepeatable.
  • Beauty is a woman who loves and approves of herself regardless of wrinkles, grey hair and thigh size.
  • The outside world will notice your beauty once you do.
  • There is much you can do to practice loving self-care.

Notes to Self

As a woman, your job is to own and affirm your authentic beauty and grace.

  • First and foremost, criticizing yourself is harmful. Stop it immediately.
  • Be aware of your self-talk. You may not even realize you judge yourself harshly.
  • When someone pays you a compliment, simply say "thank you."
  • Find a photo of yourself as a young girl and put it where you can see the hope and beauty in her eyes. See her beauty, become her champion.
  • Practice affirmations of positive self-image, acceptance and appreciation.

Walk like a queen!
